Mike Edelman's unique metalwork is made using innovative forging techniques as well as traditional methods of metal fabrication. The finished composition becomes a hand made functional sculpture that is a seamless blend of fine art and function.
Chainmaille Boot
Stainless Steel Hand Woven Chain, leather, twine and rubber.
This boot was another one of my early career projects. Made in the hallways of the Fine Arts building at Frostburg State 2004'ish, I think I had roughly a million hours in this project. It was the last large scale chainmaille project I did. The weave was self supporting and at the time felt like a major engineering feat for me! This is still one of my all time favorite pieces and lives in my living room as a reminder of what you can do with some wire, pliers and imagination.
